How we rank sources

Official government, embassy, scholarship, and university sources come first. Verified portals come second. Community evidence helps explain lived experience but never overrides official policy facts.

How community evidence works

Community posts go through moderation states before they are promoted into destination evidence. We look at recency, repeat patterns, and whether the post helps a student make a safer decision.

How freshness is handled

High-volatility content is reviewed much more often than static overviews. Deadline changes, visa updates, and scholarship notices should be checked more frequently than long-form destination explainers.

Community aggregation safeguards

Community signals are a separate evidence class. One author counts once per topic, duplicate links are removed, upvotes never determine sentiment, and only topic-relevant observations enter the denominator.

• • Fewer than 5 independent observations or fewer than 2 communities: limited evidence, with no percentage.
• • 5-11 independent observations across at least 2 communities: publishable pattern with moderate confidence.
• • 12 or more observations across at least 3 communities: strong pattern, still not a population survey.
• • Tuition, visa rules, work limits, deadlines, admission requirements, refunds, and scholarship values always require official evidence.

StudyJatra links to public discussions instead of republishing usernames or long comment text. Production-scale Reddit use also requires compliance review against Reddit's current API, attribution, privacy, and removal terms.
